Very cool theme! Navbar super! Thanks theforge! I Like them..

Ok here goes. I like the logo idea, except it would be awesome if you could put your own logo there as well. The social icons are sexy. Please make a plugin with them :) The tabbed content didnt work for me and instead displayed “install plugin” on the site :/ I would also like it is the navigation bar was slightly narrower and with the main link standing out a bit more. The sidebar could be a bit wider for a standard ad block, as well as the headers for the items on the sidebar could be slightly smaller and not so rigid. Other wise it is an awesome theme. I am using it @ golfhandicaps.co.za and it seems to be working nicely even though I haven’t played with it much!

    Hi James M,

Thank you for your comment, it’s most helpful, here are some points:

    1. In the instructions file, it explains how you can replace the Default.gif file with your own, thus having your own logo.
    2. Did you install the plugins that came with the theme? The tabbed content relies on plugins.
    3. As far as the adverts go, we didn’t build the theme around the potential to advertise, but it is noted.
    4. It looks great on your website, can’t wait to see how you involve it!

Please keep us updated and let us know if you have any other suggestions :)

  4. James M says:            December 19, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Aah alright. It seems to be working now. I simply added the theme by uploading through wp, but now I ftped it myself

  5. The Forge says:            December 19, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Fantastic; we must look and see if there’s a way to package themes to automatically include the plugins with a WP .zip install ..

Glad to hear it’s working :)

    Hi Saksham,

Thank you very much for the compliment. We decided to release a theme, which we felt a lot of people could make use of, rather than a one with a very fancy interface; Have you managed to set it up and test it?

  9. Tony says:            January 21, 2010 at 11:50 pm

Awesome Theme! just loaded it on the blog and it looks great.

One quick thought: When I’m on a page/post it’s not very clear/intuitive to click on the blog name to return to the homepage. Easy enough for a regular blog user, but not a n00b.

  10. The Forge says:            January 21, 2010 at 11:54 pm

    Hi Tony,

That’s fantastic news, it is looking good of your site. I can see that the tag cloud could use a little changing as well as the tags in the footer, some form of limitation from our side would help there.

I hear what you’re saying, I’ll check in with the designers to see what they think about that, thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for your comment :)

  11. Judy Breck says:            January 22, 2010 at 10:55 pm

Organic is gorgeous — and just PERFECT for my new blog handschooling.com.

But I am very frustrated because I can’t drag widgets to the sidebar. Is there a bug, or do I have to change some settings to make this work? I, for example, want to remove the calendar. I need to add a flickr badge and other custom stuff to the sidebar. All the organic features have worked perfectly, but when I go into the Widgets page under Appearance, I cannot drag widgets to the sidebar and no widgets appear in the sidebar.

Thanks for any help you can give!

    Judy

  12. admin says:            January 23, 2010 at 1:32 am

    Hi Judy,

Thank you very much for your comment; We are looking into the widget situation, however, for the time being you can resolve this issue by doing the following:

    1. Click on “Widgets” under “Appearance” in your Dashboard
    2. Click on “Screen Options” at the top right
    3. “Add” your widgets

The calendar, however, is built into the theme, so removing it is a little trickier that the instructions above.

You will need to do the following:

    1. Click on “Editor” under “Apperance” in your dashboard
    2. Click on Sidebar in the list on the right
    3. Search for this line of code: < li >< h3 >Calendar< /h3 >< ? php get_calendar(); ?>< /li > and REMOVE it.
    4. Click on the blue button, “Update File”

    This will remove the calendar.

    I hope this helps you.

Thanks very much!! Your directions worked perfectly. I love the theme and am moving forward with my passion to speed up learning for kids all over the world by getting them individually connected to the internet.

Organic’s 5 main topics across the top help me keep the articles in simple streams — yet give me a broader organization than just one writing flow like most blogs. I now have 5 fingers for my Handschooling.com :)

    Hi

Thanks for this great template. I am new to Wordpress so still finding my way around. As far as I can see we cannot post more than one item on a page other than the main page, nor do nested pages appear below a main page name unless you place teh page widget on the right hand side. Do you think you will develop this template in the future to encompass this.

    Thanks again

    Andrew

  16. The Forge says:            January 25, 2010 at 12:41 pm

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your kind words; We really do love hearing from people who enjoy our template. In Wordpress, pages are used for just 1 page of information, whereas categories are used for multiple articles (posts), so essentially you would want to add your posts to categories, not actually pages. Visitors would access the categories via the right sidebar. It is very important to understand the use of pages versus the use of categories in Wordpress :)

Please let me know if that helps?

  17. Judy Breck says:            January 25, 2010 at 12:46 pm

To join in the pages commenting: Can you please tell me how to set the “category” for a page, or turn it off? For example, this page on my site using this wonderful template shows it is “Uncategorized” and I can’t figure out how to change that:

Thanks for the amazingly quick reply. I understand what you are saying. I will have to do a bit of re-design!

  19. The Forge says:            January 25, 2010 at 1:16 pm

@Judy – Thank you for the comment; This is a change that we’ll have to make to the theme unfortunately and not something I can quickly resolve for you. I will add it to our list and on our next version release, we’ll have it fixed up. It’s line 13 in index.php, but it’s generic across posts and pages, so removing it will also remove it from the posts, which won’t be ideal.

@Andrew – Agreed, perhaps shifting things around a little will be a good idea. Please let me know how it goes!

  20. Judy Breck says:            January 25, 2010 at 1:25 pm

Thanks! Will you put a comment here when the next version is available? It would be great to do that, since I will get an email notice that the new version is up.

At that point, can you also please explain how to load the new version to replace the older one for my theme.

The theme is working PERFECTLY to interface the ideas on Handschooling.com !! Thanks again for this wonderful piece of work.

Another bit of a bug I am finding is that italics and bolding do not seem to work in either preview or publish. In writing a post in Edit Post, when I add italics or bold they show up fine both in the HTML panel and the Visual panel. But in Preview and when I publish online, the text is not italic or bold.

Weird. I thought I should let you know.

Thanks again for this gorgeous theme!

    Hi Judy,

I have managed to replicate the problem, thank you for pointing it out, I will add it to our list for the next release :)

  26. Andy says:            January 27, 2010 at 12:37 pm

    Hey,

I’ve found a “bug” (of sorts) in this theme. Header.php is looking for the “styles” menu with a lower case “s”, but the folder carries an upper case “S”. Check it out. The “bug” is in 1.8 and 1.9. The result is that you can’t assign blue, brown or green themes to the site through the Organic Options page. Renaming the folder “styles” instead of “Styles” fixes the problem, though.

    Awesome theme, by the way.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

  27. The Forge says:            January 27, 2010 at 12:43 pm

    Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for sharing this with us; It seems to be a host dependant bug, as a lot of people have not run into this problem. I will add it to our bug list and will update it in our next release.

    Thank you!

  28. Andrew McLeish says:            January 27, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Just to say I had this problem to with the template colour but got it to work by first installing v1.6 and then updating to 1.8. Andrew (a different one!)

  29. The Forge says:            January 27, 2010 at 1:14 pm

Just a quick update, we will be releasing an updated version, which will cover most of the bugs that have been mentioned. The update should be available for download/upgrade in the next 48 hours depending on how long Wordpress takes to approve it.

Thank you all for your ongoing support!

Here is one more problem I have been having: I put my Google Analytics Code into the box provided in Organic Options. After 72 hours, no visits have been reported by Analytics — and I know that I have had some visitors.

Is there anything else I need to do to activate Analytics for the theme?

    Thanks once again,

    Judy

  31. The Forge says:            January 28, 2010 at 12:09 am

    Hi Judy,

Really strange, it’s obviously not embedding the tracking code correctly for some reason; you might as well add your tracking code to the footer.php file just before the closing body tag whilst I investigate it.

In other news – The new version, 1.9.1, has been approved and is available for download with a number of fixes:

    1. Bold and Italic styling has been reworked
    2. The style sheets work across different hosting servers [Thanks Andy]
    3. Tabbed content has been enhanced
    4. Text widgets have been styled more appropriately
    5. Removed the “filed under” for pages
    6. Text widget dragging in dashboard has been enhanced
    7. An assortment of other small css tweaks have been made

I hope you all enjoy this release!

  32. Judy Breck says:            January 28, 2010 at 12:22 am

Thanks! I just installed 1.9.1 and it is terrific!! I also put the tracking code into the footer, so in 24 hours, I should have some numbers on Analytics. I’ll let you know what happens.

    Judy

  33. The Forge says:            January 28, 2010 at 12:35 am

    Hi Judy,

Glad to hear that you’re happy with the new version; you should actually see statistics in less than 24 hours :)

  34. Judy Breck says:            January 28, 2010 at 12:40 am

Maybe it is my fault that the tracking does not work. My # is UA-6751656-3, the -3 being the 3rd website I am tracking. The first 2 work with this number followed by -1 and -2. I put the number in the box you provide with the -3 at the end. Is that right, or should it just be UA-6751656 ??

I am a writer not a coder, and pretty dumb about these things :|

    Judy

  35. Judy Breck says:            January 28, 2010 at 2:58 pm

Bumbling around, I finally got Analytics receiving data by using the code copied from Analytics instructions and pasted above the body tag at the end of the footer. The -3 is included. Actually when if first pasted my code in the Organics Options box I included the -3 and the data was not collected by Analytics. So I don’t know if the Options box works or not.

I apologize if this has wasted your time. Many thanks for all of your help, courtesy, and patience.

How do you change the font color of a widget? The organic theme is great but my twitter feed app’s title is black and isn’t visible on the dark background.

  38. The Forge says:            January 29, 2010 at 3:51 pm

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I can help you resolve it..

The following line needs to be added to your style.css file:

    #menu h3 a { color:#fff; }

Once this has been added, it will be in white, just like the other titles.

Please let me know if you succeed?

    Hello!

First I want to say that I love the look of the organic template. Just what I’ve been looking for. However I’ve run into a few problems.

    1. When I set up the pages and their description, the second page won’t load. It just goes to the “home page”.

    2. I have deleted and redone a few pages so when I set up the page to be shown it will have the title with a number behind (i.e. Food 2, or Contact 2) is there any way to get rid of that.

    3. Lastly, is there a “home” button where after somone has browsed through the pages they can get back to the home page?

    Thank you so much!

  40. The Forge says:            January 29, 2010 at 8:17 pm

    Hi Jay,

Thank you for your kind words; do you have a link for me to where you are running Organic? I need this especially for point 1. Point 2 sounds more like a general Wordpress question and not actually an Organic question and the answer to your last question is that the Home button is actually the logo and title in the header :)

    Hope that helps so far..

    2) Is there a way to shrink the top black bar when there isn’t additional pages?
    3) I added a second page and the title doesn’t fit.
    4) also can i remove the icon next to the blog name?

  45. The Forge says:            January 30, 2010 at 7:43 pm

Hi Mark – The changes you are asking for as extremely specific and rather personal, so these features are not offered with the theme, what you essentially need is a developer to tweak things to your exact need. As far as the pages with long titles, unfortunately based on the width of this design, we couldn’t allow for extremely long ones, I apologize for this.

Jo – I would need a link to your blog to be able to trouble shoot your problem please..

  46. Judy Breck says:            January 30, 2010 at 11:24 pm

Organic is just great — it just keeps purring and looking better as I build content into my handschooling.com blog.

Here is one minor tweak: Best I can tell the css has not been set for H1,H2, etc. in “Format” offered in the kitchen sink menu. When I apply H1 or H2 to a headline its appearance changes in the edit box but not when I publish.

    Thanks again for it all!

  54. The Forge says:            February 1, 2010 at 12:00 am

@hobong – That’s really strange, I’ve never seen that before; does it happen if you change the order of widgets? I honestly havn’t seen a muddle like that..

@tara – Thank you for your kind words, I actually dealt with the Twitter widget above, the process is quite simple:

    The following line needs to be added to your style.css file: #menu h3 a { color:#fff; }

The gallery is out putting the title as an h2, whereas all the other ones are h3, so you would need to do 1 of two things:

    1. Change the widget to output h3 tags
    2. Replicate the current #menu h3 { } class with #menu h2 { } if that makes sense..

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for your comment, are you refering to the top/main navigation that you set up in Organic Options? If that’s the case, it’s definitely possible, however, Organic was not built to have that functionality..

  61. Chris says:            February 6, 2010 at 5:17 am

Great theme, I really like it. I do have one question though. I have been subtly messing with the CSS just to make it a little more “me” but have one thing I can’t seem to figure out. The page names seem to capitalize the first letter of each word only, even if I create them differently. For instance: my about page, in Word Press I created it as ‘About TNBD’ but the theme converts it to ‘About Tnbd’. I want to be able to keep all of TNBD as capital letters but can’t find any code that would relate to this. I was hoping there was something I could change so that it will keep it in the format that it was created in.

Thanks again for the great theme, one of the best freebies out there in my opinion.

    Chris from http://www.thenewborndad.com

  62. The Forge says:            February 7, 2010 at 5:31 pm

    Hi Chris,

Firstly, thank you for giving our theme a go, your modifications are looking great, well done. What you are asking for is unfortunately a little trickier than just some css. We used a PHP function called ucwords() to capitalise just the first letter of the page title – This is done inside the nav.php file.

The easiest way to fix this without programming knowledge would be to hard code the names in, which means you won’t be able to change the top navigation links again, not the best solution, but a solution none-the-less.

You would look for this line of code in nav.php:

    < ?php echo ucwords($title1); ?>

And just place all of the above with just the name, such as ‘About TNBD’, without the quotes.

Please let me know if you come right :)

  63. Chris says:            February 7, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Perfect! Thank you. I can’t imagine that would be an issue with any other pages I create so not a big deal to hard code one name in there. I can always change it again if needed anyways. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

  64. The Forge says:            February 7, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Correct John, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Glad we could find a solution, I hope our template serves you well.

    Take care!

Hi, I love this theme but I’m having trouble viewing the headings when I add a new widget to the sidebar. It’s completely black – how do I change this to white? Also, I’m probably being completely dumb but I don’t know to turn the comments back on? It says comments are turned off on my site. Thank you for your help.

  66. The Forge says:            February 8, 2010 at 12:12 am

    Hi Erica,

I covered this in a previous comment, you need to add some css to the stylesheet to change hyperlinks to white, here were the instructions:

    The following line needs to be added to your style.css file: #menu h3 a { color:#fff; }

Please let me know if you come right?

PS. As far as your other question goes, that’s a Wordpress question, please try asking on the Wordpress site.

is there a way to prevent the social networking links from appearing in pages? i would like those icons to appear in posts, but not static pages like about, contact, privacy policy, etc…

  68. The Forge says:            February 10, 2010 at 12:06 am

    Hi gabe,

    Thank you for your comment.

Line 19 of the index.php file calls the social icons, it has been set up to call them for posts and pages, however, you can replace line 19:

    < ?php include("includes/social.php"); ?>

with the following and it should do the fix for you:

    < ?php if (!is_page()) { include("includes/social.php"); } ?>

    Hope that helps..

Basically it’s just making it load the social icons when anything that isn’t a page is displayed :)

    Hope it works.

Is there a way to adjust the display size of the logos? I’d like it to display exactly the same height as that white bar at the top of the blog.
The logo I replaced default.gif with is larger but it’s automatically shrinking it.

Also, I downloaded the theme from wordpress.com and I can’t find the instructions file. It wasn’t in the zip file.

    Thanks!

  72. The Forge says:            February 11, 2010 at 1:44 am

    Hi Lee,

Unfortunately the theme was built to cater for a logo of a set size, this is to keep the shape of the header correct. However, if you look in the header.php file on line 24, you’ll see that the width and height have been defined, you could make changes here, but I fear that this could easily break the header of your site. A problem with Wordpress.com themes is that they don’t allow you to include an instructions file unfortunately – You could download the theme from this link – http://www.theforge.co.za/download/16 – there is an instructions file inside the .zip file, the version of this file is outdated though, so please only use it for the instructions :)

Thank you for using our theme, please keep us posted on your developments..

in organic options, I’m trying to format navigation options, but the drop down menus don’t reflect changes I am making in the page titles. For example, I changed a page title from “community garden” to “garden” and this change did not show up.

Also, I’ve added extra pages and these do not show up in the options page

  74. The Forge says:            February 11, 2010 at 10:54 am

    Hi Dave,

I think the problem with the page titles is that you need to change the page “slugs”, this will resolve your first battle. As far as adding extras pages goes and them not reflecting in the drop downs, that’s really odd, I can’t seem to replicate the problem on my side..

  75. Dave says:            February 11, 2010 at 11:00 am

    Sorry – another question:

I tried to change the logo by uploading another gif file and deleting default.gif but the new gif file doesn’t show up in organic options.

Otherwise I really like the look of the site, but the options panel really needs to work for me to keep with it

  76. The Forge says:            February 11, 2010 at 11:24 am

@Dave – You need to name your logo as default.gif and upload replace the old default.gif file. The options panel does work, I’ve tested it my side thoroughly, the problem is that when themes are packaged on Wordpress, they can’t include an instructions manual, which makes it trickier, that’s all.

Hope to see you sticking with our theme :)

If I delete this page and try again, it changes to “about 3″

    Hi Dave,

My pleasure. Have you emptied your trash? I presume you’re running the latest release of Wordpress, all that’s happening is that the older versions of the About page are still on the system.. Once they are completely removed, you should be able to manually change the slug..

  80. Steve says:            February 12, 2010 at 11:35 pm

    Hi -
Tried the theme and liked it – until I realized I had no way to log in to my dashboard from the blog – unless I went to admin.php which seemed clumsy – am I missing something…
I’m sure it’s user error since others don’t report this… what’s the deal?

  81. The Forge says:            February 14, 2010 at 12:53 pm

    Hi Steve,

A large number of themes don’t provide a click through to the Admin Dashboard at all, as it can encourage anyone to click there and attempt to log in. However, with Organic theme, you’re able to turn on such functionality by using the Organic Options menu found on the left inside the Dashboard, you will see it there :)

Let me know if you come right!

  82. flight says:            February 16, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Hi, Like the organic theme, but I found a bug in organic options that adds back slashes to the google analytics code everytime I save, and to the description for pages with a hyphen in the description every time I save the options page disabling the analytics and showing the description on the page as i.e. ā€œFlight\’s Missionā€

  83. The Forge says:            February 17, 2010 at 9:50 am

    Hi flight,

Thank you very much for your feedback, I have written down your concerns and will address them as soon as possible and upload a re-release of the theme when they are complete. This should happen fairly soon!

  84. Judy Breck says:            February 17, 2010 at 4:24 pm

As an early adopter of Organic, and steady user, I continue to LOVE the theme. It is working splendidly for my blog.

I have a wish for one more page in the theme, and since a new version is in the works, here it is:
The design is strongly driven by the 5 main topics across the top. I wish there were a page design that could be used for them that is different from the common page design for categories, search results, etc. Great would be simply the main page design without the usual sidebar. Even better would be a page design with a sidebar that could be customized. Thus in my handschooling.com, the “mobiles” page could have main content describing mobiles with a sidebar connecting to mobile stuff. The “findability” page could have the same for that subject, etc.

Since I am a writer, not a coder, modifying the theme is a huge challenge for me. If providing the custom page is not possible, can you tell me how to modify the regular page to create a second page without the main sidebar?

    Thanks very, very much !!

    Judy

  85. The Forge says:            February 17, 2010 at 4:31 pm

    Hi Judy,

Thank you for your on-going support. I understand what you are asking for, in terms of sidebar changing relative to the page the visitor is on. I don’t foresee us doing that with this theme, not for a while at least; it’s a very complicated change and I’m not sure that many people would need the function, which therefore doesn’t really justify the time it’s going to take us to do it. I’ll add it to the list of suggestions though and if we decide to do a fairly big overhaul, I’ll try and include it.

I released another version this morning actually, cleans up some of the bugs that have been mentioned in this thread, most noticably the problem with backslashes and the styling of widget headers that were black.

  86. Judy Breck says:            February 17, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Thank you for your patience. I did not realize what I was suggesting was anything major. I love Organic and appreciate the new release!

Thanks for the fix on the backslashes. Appreciate it! I had worked around the analytics problem inserting it below the header, but the hyphen, I could figure that one out.
    I’ll download it…

@Judy – No problem at all, I know your intentions are for the best :)

@flight – I’ve released it to Wordpress, but they are yet to approve the new release. The current version is 1.9.1 and the updated one will be 1.9.2, so keep your eyes open for it :)

  96. Andy Zweibel says:            February 24, 2010 at 7:08 pm

    Hey Guys,

Thank you so much for releasing this theme-it seems to be just what I’m looking for right now. I do have a question however. I love the larger page navigation that you guys created that brings focus to the page links at the top. I did the fix that you suggested above to fix a capitalization issue I had, but I had one other question/request to throw out there:

I think it would help set apart the page links, as well as drive more traffic to pages, if the entire rectangle that includes a page link were to link to the page. For example, in my website, clicking anywhere to the left of the first divider would take you to the “About” page. It would be even cooler if there could be a slight change in color on a mouseover (for example, to a lighter grey), and if the link area actually didn’t encompass the entire vertical span of the area, and only went to the top/bottom of the divider line. Did that make any sense?

Obviously this is probably more of a fix than you can handle in a comment, but I guess you might want to take it as a feature request for the next release!

Also, I love that you are responding to comments and suggestions like this. So many developers release themes and never support them, so the users can’t accomplish what they need to.

    Thanks again,
    Andy

  97. Andy Zweibel says:            February 24, 2010 at 7:23 pm

Something else I thought of that would be cool-widgetize the footer (at least the center and right portion) so that we can edit/change what goes there. I have a CreativeCommons license that I would love to put in the bottom right corner instead of the links, as I have my Dashboard bookmarked.

    Thanks!

  98. The Forge says:            February 24, 2010 at 11:37 pm

    Hi Andy,

Both points are really good, thank you for raising them. I can tell you two things with regards to this:

    1. The main navigation having the entire block as a link is a nice idea, I never thought of that and I think it’s a good one, one which we’ll definitely add to our list of things to do in future releases, provided it’s possible, I’d need to have a think about it relative to what has been coded – I doubt it’ll be a huge development.
    2. The widgetized footer is cool too, let’s just say that we have something coming up that has a widgetized footer for the very reason you’ve mentioned it ;)

As much as we love giving advice back and listening to all of you, we love it even more when someone like you comes along, who has carefully thought about things and provided really awesome ideas for future releases, this is priceless and I can’t thank you enough!

    Thank you for your support!

  100. Andy Zweibel says:            February 25, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Hey guys! Another quick question, though not a suggestion like before. This one should be easier, as well :)

Where can I edit the color of the links in the posts? I tried finding the right CSS variable, but couldn’t figure out where it was (the “a” variable at the top didn’t work).

Thanks! I’ll be doing some tweaking as I continue to work on my site’s look; I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any other suggestions for future releases!

  112. The Forge says:            March 3, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Hi Flight, please could you be a little more specific for me so I can troubleshoot?

  113. flight says:            March 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Take a look at my site… You can see the google ads hshifted a little to the right, along with the Hostgatorer banner. They fit before and were centered before the fix you made for Google analytics problem with the code changing by adding backslashes. I think it was 2 revisions ago. 1.9.1.

  114. flight says:            March 3, 2010 at 9:42 pm

I made the ads by puting them in a text box for the sidebar in widgets…

THANKS! for your support and forgive the typos..

  118. The Forge says:            March 4, 2010 at 12:19 am

@jennifer – By using text widgets for the sidebar.

  119. Justin Handley says:            March 4, 2010 at 1:00 am

Hey – I think I found it – I’m trying to use Pages instead of posts – does this only work on posts? Or is there a known workaround for pages? In the organic admin where it says you can “see your pages by clicking here” It takes me to the posts section, not pages.

  120. flight says:            March 4, 2010 at 1:11 am

  124. jennifer says:            March 4, 2010 at 7:23 am

ok I took inventory of what doesn’t work on my site and it seems strange.
    a. tags – can’t add to pages
    b. no sidebars – can’t add to pages
This option seems to be turned off within my theme.
when i go to drag and drop, they won’t move.
Am I missing how to turn these on or do I need an additional plug-in?

  125. The Forge says:            March 4, 2010 at 9:53 am

@jennifer – Are you running the latest version 1.9.3? If you are, then it’s either a plugin that’s stopping them from working or the server, neither of which I am able to assist with unfortunately. Please make 100% sure you’re using version 1.9.3 (http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/organic-theme)

@Dejan – Thank you for your kind words about the theme. Creating a page without a sidebar is related to Wordpress and not specifically Organic Theme, you will need to ask on the wordpress.org forums

@John – So if you drag 2 text widgets to the sidebar in the widget manager, what happens?

@Justin – The top navigation should use pages, not posts..

  126. jennifer says:            March 4, 2010 at 4:42 pm

@jennifer – Only posts have tags, pages don’t.

  130. Dejan says:            March 5, 2010 at 9:24 am

    Hello again.

It seems like creating a page without sidebar is theme specific after-all (I see some themes have page-fullwidth.php). I’ve used php if condition for page-title and different style in case the page-title matches.

    Tell me what you think.

    Again, great theme

    Dejan

  131. The Forge says:            March 5, 2010 at 10:19 am

    Hi Dejan,

Correct, the theme would need to contain a template page for full width without sidebar. The site is coming along nicely! Well done :)

  132. alchymyth says:            March 7, 2010 at 6:40 pm

the pages seem to link to random posts or other pages,if the page title uses capital letters.

    this theme uses ‘get_page_by_title()’ to get the page link; the drop-down however offers the page slug;
if the page name is written in capitals, that slug will not match the title, and something ‘random’ will be produced as link.

it seems that replacing ‘get_page_by_title()’ with ‘get_page_by_path()’ in nav.php could repair the fault.

it would be great if you could check this and consider in the next update.

  133. alchymyth says:            March 7, 2010 at 7:15 pm

update on my last comment: i have read the other comments, so this page link seems to have happend to others as well.
    and it turned out not to be that simple – if i replace all five occurrences – it shows wrong links on page no.4;
if i only replace it for page2 – it shows all links ok. does not make sense. could it have to do with changing the capitalisation of the page titles?

  134. alchymyth says:            March 7, 2010 at 7:44 pm

    second update:
if i replace $title1 (etc) with $ptitle1 (etc) the linking works with the original ‘get_page_by_title()’.

i also changed the output of the title to ‘ ($page1->post_title); ‘ to show it as it was entered by the user (no forced capitalisation of the first letter).

    so, it is working now.

and, thank you for providing this good looking theme ;-)

Thanks for the comments @alchymyth; I’ll take a proper look tomorrow in the office, however, at the moment with regards to the capitalisation, this is something that was built from a design perspective and will not be changed to cater for lower case..

My suggestion would be to try the Wordpress.org forums though..

Thank you for providing this theme – I am loving everything about Organic. It is by far my favorite thus far!

However, I wish I could customize the background color to something other than the 3 options available. Is it possible? and if so, how do I do this?

I thank you in advance for your kind response!
    Sofia

  141. The Forge says:            March 10, 2010 at 4:18 pm

    Hi Sofia,

Unfortunately the theme was only built for those 3 colours, however, with some programming and design experience you could actually change it to what ever you want. There are 3 css files, blue, green and brown, which control all the colours, you could open one and make changes to it and that would reflect on your website – I wouldn’t suggest creating a new css file, such as red.css, that would over complicate things.

    Best of luck!

  142. jennifer says:            March 10, 2010 at 11:25 pm

Has anyone tried to use a dropdown menu with this theme? Is it dificcult to setup?

  143. The Forge says:            March 10, 2010 at 11:34 pm

Hi jennifer, your question isn’t too clear, dropdown menu for what?

Categories – http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_dropdown_categories – This is for placing your categories in a drop down menu; a simple Google search will point you in the right direction.

The reoccuring problem here is that you’re after Wordpress changes, not Organic changes, all these things are strictly Wordpress related and not actually related to this theme – easy misunderstanding though.

I’m using the latest version from WordPress.org, but it will only recognize my contact page. Other pages are shown in the theme options, and after selecting and saving them, all page links in the theme go to the contact page. This is on WordPress 2.9.1 with these plugins: .html on Pages; Clean-Contact; Cleaner Gallery; Lightbox Plus; One Click Plugin Updater; Page Menu Editor; Search Everything; Subpage View; WordPress Firewall; and WP Security Scan. I did disable the Page Menu Editor plugin and reset the theme, but that made no difference.

  145. Tom says:            March 11, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Aha. There are special plugins required. Those aren’t listed anywhere I could see on the WordPress.org theme site, so I had not installed them. I will install and test again.

  146. The Forge says:            March 11, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Hi Tom, could you please provide the address to your blog? The plugins that are required won’t fix the problem you’re having unfortunately. What I wanted to know is whether you’re using the latest version of Organic? I’m not worried about what version of Wordpress.

  147. Tom says:            March 12, 2010 at 12:59 am

I’ve reinstalled it. Now most of the page links in the menu go to the welcome page. Dev site: http://lincolncd.scc.wa.gov/lincolncdpress/

    hello there –

i’m trying to change out the default logo for my own. i’ve deleted the orignal ‘default.gif’ and added my own to the themes image file. i then renamed it ‘default.gif’ but it’s showing up as an ‘x’ or error on my site.
    i’m thinking maybe it’s a size issue?

it seems as though the size in header.php is 40×40?
can you help me understand what i should resize my image to so that it will fit?

thanks – i’m really loving this theme :)

    hannah

ps i can’t find the instructions section of the theme? seems as though some of these answers might be there? thanks!

  150. The Forge says:            March 12, 2010 at 2:43 am

    Hi hannah,

Your logo must be 40×40 in size, correct, but what’s causing the problem is that you’ve called to default.gif and it should actually be Default.gif – just the first letter capitalisation :)

Love the theme (Organic 1.9.3), but I’m feeling very stupid because I cannot get the “Social Groups” configuration to work.

Im just trying to get Twitter to work for now. Our Twitter name is HaggleWire (@HaggleWire). No matter what value I specify for the Twitter setting, the resulting URL (when clicking on the Twitter icon in the footer) is always / instead of “http:/twitter.com/HaggleWire” like it is supposed to be.

    Thanks for your help.

  153. The Forge says:            March 13, 2010 at 12:36 am

Hi Startup Guy, that’s really odd, I haven’t come across a single problem with that section as of yet; in the field next to Twitter in the Organic Options page, you should type the full twitter link, such as http://www.twitter.com/theforgeweb – The whole thing, please try that and let me know :) Oh, don’t forget to remove the # sign!

  154. Startup Guy says:            March 13, 2010 at 2:43 am

Well now, I do believe this is an object lesson about knowing when you are too tired to function.

I could have sworn that was one of the first things I tried, but obviously not, because it now works flawlessly.

Thanks VERY much for your responsiveness.

    Thanks

  157. The Forge says:            March 15, 2010 at 9:19 pm

    Hi Lynn,

Unfortunately, this is not a function we built for the theme, however, you could change the_content to the_excerpt in the index.php and single.php files and this would fulfill your needs.

Please let me know if you come right?

    Thanks.

    Hi folks,

I’m trying to add an “about the author” segment at the bottom of my single post template, but I don’t see such a template existing. Most themes allow you to modify the single.php file, however I don’t even see that file existing in Organic. What can I do?

    -Andy

  169. The Forge says:            April 1, 2010 at 9:37 am

Hi Andy, you will need to do it in the index.php file inside the loop as you would do normally in the single.php file. However, with Organic, there was no need for a single.php so to make this work, you’ll need to wrap it in an if statement using is_single(), along these lines:

    if (is_single()) { // do something for single view }

Please let me know if you come right..

Unfortunely, I cannot afford that huge amount of space between the header and the NavBar and between the NavBar and the content div. So… does anybody know how to eliminate the top margin of the post content, or the bottom margin of the NavBar…???

I succeded at raising the Blog Description Div, but I don’t seem to be finding how to raise the other stuff and I’m completely stucked… :( .

This theme had such versatility and great look that I chose it to be the template for my new training site.

I was wondering though if it’s possible to display the navigation pages without having to input a description.

I went into the nav.php file and tried to remove $desc 1-5 but that didn’t work. What am I doing wrong?

  174. The Forge says:            April 5, 2010 at 11:10 am

Hi Alex, thank you for your kind words. To do what you want to do is going to take away from the theme a little, but never-the-less, you will need to work with lines 24, 30, 36, 42 and 48, that’s where the description is called out. So, you can remove what’s between the < p> tags, in other words, the stripslashes($descX)..

  175. Washington says:            April 6, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Congratulations! This theme is very good. But, I like to modify the colors. Can you put the picture header-bg, rss-bg and bg for download in psd or png format? I want to put the background of my blog in color orange. I tried to modify the JPEGs that are in issue in Photoshop (Hue / Saturation), but the image is pixelated. To get a good result, I have to do with the originals.
    Please, can you help me?

  176. The Forge says:            April 6, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Hi @Washington – Because this is a free theme, we do not provide the PSD files. Sorry about that.

  177. Washington says:            April 6, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Ok! I asked because I thought the theme was free to change with the credits of the designer. So I leave a suggestion: in the next update, if is possible, provide the color orange in the options. :)
    Thank you for your attention!

Hi @Washington, I totally understand and it’s not a problem; please feel free to manipulate the theme how you see fit, it would be exciting to see it all customized! I am running the latest version of wordpress but I’m not sure regarding your theme. I’ll check it up today and let you know.
The pages are corectly setted up in the Organic Options… and I’ve checked that something like 20 times, just to make sure I’m not making any mistake, but nothing.
I’ll let you know about the version.
    Thanks!

Ok, again thanks for answering and thanks for letting us use the theme.

I’ve checked them both, wordpress in latest version and your theme in version 1.9.3, that I’ll asume is the latest since when I tried donwloading it from the WP themes section it told me that version was already installed.

Do you have any clue what should I do? Is it something fixable?

Yeah, but that’s the problem several of us are seeing in our blogs. Same thing happen to me and other people here.

    Good luck!

  197. The Forge says:            April 14, 2010 at 6:37 pm

@Javier – From my side, I see that the theme has been downloaded 19,122 times, and only 3 or 4 people have mentioned this problem. From this I feel that I can deduce that the problem is possibly server side and with your hosting company, some form of permission, either that or something to do with the Wordpress install. I have seen over 200 websites with the theme running correctly.

You see what I mean mate?

  198. Javier says:            April 14, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Yes, you told me that, and I’m sure you’re right. I’m just pointing that it is possible that something like that happens.
Anyway, I’m far from critiques to the theme, I love it and enjoy it, so thanks a lot!!

  199. The Forge says:            April 14, 2010 at 6:42 pm

@Javier – Absolutely, if it’s a problem I definitely want to get down to the bottom of it because it’s a nuisance for all of us. Perhaps someone would send me a SQL dump of their database, which I could import into my testing grounds, that would help a lot!

If the title of the page is different from the permalink’s folder name, it will show up as the first thing the script finds. A post or comment if there are any, or just the base url.

I have a page called contact/. I changed the title to contract and it was no longer functioning correctly.

I want the about page to be linked to URL/about/ but I want the title to be About the Store and I do not want the nice row of links at the top to be polluted with long titles.

I think that makes sense as a refinement.

But that’s the cause. Granted it took me 6 hours to think of the obvious.

  202. The Forge says:            April 17, 2010 at 2:58 pm

@Rares – That’s a good find. I got the code out and explored again and noticed that in the one area I was using post_name, which should have actually been post_title. Took a long time to track this problem down, I’m really pleased that it’s resolved now and everyone can enjoy the theme to its full extent!

I’ve made the change, so it should resolve the problem everyone is having; I’ve uploaded version 1.9.4 to Wordpress and it should be available in the next 24-48hours.

I have multiple authors on my blog, and would love to be able to include an “About the Author” section below each post, which calls up the author’s avatar and bio, as well as having space to put a “Follow This User on Twitter” button. Any idea what the best way to do that would be? I’ll probably try tinkering with it eventually, but it might be a good feature to consider adding into the next revision!

    Thanks,

I did some tweaking, and here’s what I came up with (scroll to the bottom, below “Related Posts”):

    http://musicedmajor.net/2010/05/03/may-blog-carnival/

It’s not by any means pretty (and the code is probably pretty ugly!), but it gets the job done. It was a cool way to get my feet wet with PHP functions.

Let me know if I can help at all with getting this put into the theme natively for next release. It would be great to get this as a simple check-box option to include or not, via the Organic options menu.

One thing that I have found, however, is that the theme logo in the top right corner is not showing up in firefox (I have tried it on multiple computers too), but works just fine in IE.

Is this just my issue or is it happening to many people?

Please help so I don’t have to abandon this theme because of this glitch!

Another question. It seems that Stacey posed this question a while back, but solved it for herself, never posting her result on the site. So…

I’ve added a new page that won’t show up in the navigation bar. It is likely that I will need to change pages or add more pages in the future. Is there a way to add/change, even though the Organic options page says to have them solidified before going in there?

Navigation problem . . . page title is 18 characters and the navbar cuts off at 16 characters. Even though it drops to a new line (where there’s room for more characters) it cuts off the title on the 16th character. Any way to fix it? I’ve been playing with it for a while, but am not seeing what the issue is.

    Thanks! Love the theme.

  229. The Forge says:            May 10, 2010 at 12:49 am

Hi Joe, the navigation wasn’t built to allow for that extra wrapping unfortunately. You can play around wig the nav.php file, I think that’s the one that sub_str’s the content.

  234. The Forge says:            May 14, 2010 at 2:05 am

@eric – Replacing the icon requires you creating one the same size, naming it default.gif and uploading and replacing the current default.gif file. Your question about removing the Posted By is a general Wordpress question, I would suggest visiting the Wordpress.org forums and asking your question there as we only offer limited support for questions specific to our themes, which are free.

When working with comments there is a small issue. Every comments gets the date stamp from the creation date of the post and not from the date at which the comment was created.

This is just a small issue which can be fixed by going into the comments.php file and changing

In the loop over the comments

    Hi,

    Thanks for the Organic theme!

I’m hoping to find advise me on three things I’m struggling with. I’m currently helping a friend build his website and what I’m not sure how to do is…

The first is how I could remove the sidebar and make it so the body is one column?

The second is how I can replace the background with my own background image, and the theme logo with my own logo?

Finally, I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to round the edges? Things are very “square” and I’m hoping to smooth it out.

    Thanks so much!!!

    - Josh

@Josh – The questions you are asking are more CSS questions and not questions specific to this theme. Due to the fact that this is a free theme, we do not offer free consulting on CSS related matters. You should be able to Google your questions and find tutorials on CSS.

    Glad you’re enjoying the theme!

    Hi,

Not sure this is a problem with the theme or Wordpress.org or what, but maybe you can help me.

Back in March, I set up a blog for my client using “Organic”. (Very nice.) The client logged into their blog yesterday for first time in at least a couple weeks and noticed an odd problem.

She was adding a JPG image to the draft of her new post, but the image only showed in edit area as a gray box (w/ caption). I tried from my home office and got the same result. Previewing the post shows just a black outline around small white box where the image should be. (Includes text from alt tag and caption.)

I double-checked the uploads path (under Settings/Miscellaneous), and it is still set to the default. (I say “still” because I don’t remember changing it.) I tried typing in the default folder, anyway, but it had no effect.

I pulled the image into Paint Shop Pro, saved another copy with different name, and changed extension from JPG to JPEG. I tried using the new image with the drafted post — same problem.

I tried drafting another post myself and had the same problem with the image.

I tested uploading images (this one and another) on my own website (which also uses WP 2.9.2) and my personal blog on Wordpress.com. Had no problems in either case. This suggests that the problem either has to do with the theme or maybe something on the client’s site or server. (They self-host.)

I contacted client’s IT guy, but nothing helpful, so far.

Later in the evening, I created a copy of the image with a PSP extension. But, as soon as I opened up the draft of the post, I saw that the image already there was good! No gray box! Then I decided to try adding another JPG below it… gray box. Then I tried uploading my PSP image… “doesn’t meet security requirement”.

That’s where it stands now. Client can publish the post, because she has a good image. But, the problem hasn’t really gone away, and we have no idea why it just started happening, let alone why we (eventually) got a good image. My only thought is that there may be some security or anti-virus s/w that is delaying the full acceptance of the image.

Though it’s a relatively new blog with few posts, we’ve never had trouble adding an image before. So,… any ideas?

    Many thanks…

  244. The Forge says:            June 5, 2010 at 12:43 am

Hi @Chris – This is incredibly hard for me to debug from here, but in all honesty, it sounds like a server problem, as though the server doesn’t have proper write permissions to the uploads folder or that HDD space has run out. If it’s not one of these, it sounds like a problem with running Wordpress on that specific server.

I’ve just successfully added an image to my Organic Demo environment without a problem in the Editor View or on the actual website.

    My money’s on the host..

  245. Chris says:            June 8, 2010 at 10:14 pm

Ding, ding, ding! You are correct. It was a permissions issue with the temp folder on the server. We’re not sure about the inconsistency, or why it happened in the first place. But, we think the permissions might have gotten changed during a Windows upgrade.

    Thanks for your help,
    Chris

How do I add my own logo? And what are the size restrictions?
    Kindly,
    Jennifer

  247. Jennifer says:            June 9, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Ok found the answer here. But what about a bigger logo option? Is this possible?
    Kindly,
    Jennifer

  248. The Forge says:            June 13, 2010 at 12:32 pm

    @Chris – I thought so, glad it’s resolved.

@Jennifer – The dimensions of the logo should be 40×40 and the best way to do it is to create one called Default.gif and upload it to replace the Default.gif that’s packaged with the theme in the /organic-theme/img/logos/ folder. For a bigger logo you will need CSS knowledge, unfortunately we do not supply CSS troubleshooting because it’s a free theme.

I haven’t touched the comments.php file. I have made changes to the css through the wordpress appearance menu.

After seeing your response to @lantern, I was afraid to post here, but I’ve now spent days trying to learn enough php to solve this problem on my own without success. First of all: I really like this theme!

I have a problem…. On my blog the part of the MENU doesn’t appear… (in the pics you post is the one that shows ABOUT and SERVICES)

Can you tell me if I have to do something different for it to work??

    Thanks guys!

Glad you fixed it @catanun! What did you change?

  256. catanun says:            July 10, 2010 at 8:30 am

Well… Apparently you have to write something on the “Page x Description” at least a blank space for it to be saved as a Page and Show on the menu. 1 thing I donĀ“t like is that everytime you enter the Organic Options you have to chose the Pages again cause they all jump to..I don’t know.. I thing the page with the shorter name… Have you notice that? Its easy to change them but if you can tell me how to fix it it would be great.

    THIS IS REALLY URGENT:
I have a HUGE problem, the comments are not taking/showing the date when they were send but the date when the POST was made.

For Example, I have a post from Feb 2nd, 2009, I send a comment today (Jul 9,2010) and the date on the page says FEB 2ND 2009.
If I enter to Edit the comment the date its correct there, so in the example I correctly watch JUL 9 2010.

PLEASE!! Tell me how to fix this!! I know that I need to change the code but I not sure where or what and to what…

    PLEASE T_T

(Sorry for the long long comment)

The post was from April, but both comments were left this month (July). Any ideas?

Also, my client would like to make the company logo (we replaced the world.gif instead of the default.gif) into a hyperlink back to their main site. Is this easily do-able, maybe with HTML?

    Thx

  267. Joe says:            July 31, 2010 at 11:06 pm

I have a weird problem with the text widgets. If I enter invalid HTML code into a text widget (forget to close out a tag, etc) and hit save, it completely wipes out all other text widgets I am using. For instance, I had Facebook like button and Google Friend Connect in separate text widgets. I then tried to upload a button for another blog into a text widget (and I mistakenly did not cut and paste all of the code). Hit save and all of my text widgets disappeared. Got me curious and I was able to repeat the problem cotinuously.

I noticed this first in WP 2.9 and it still occurs in 3.0.

    Any ideas?

  268. The Forge says:            August 2, 2010 at 5:40 pm

@Joe – Well, if you’re entering in invalid code, you can’t expect it to work? Am I misunderstanding..

  269. Joe says:            August 2, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I understand that entering invalid code into a text widget is not going to work. What I wouldn’t expect is for every other text widget I’m using to disappear b/c of it. Again, if I do something like forget to close out a tag in one text widget it is affecting every other text widget I’m using. They all disappear as if they were never there.

If I load a different theme, this is what happens:
Enter invalid text into a text widget and either nothing displays or it displays as html code. I then can go back into widgets, click on the text widget that has an error, fix the problem, hit save- no problem. In your theme, if I do the same thing, the widget disappears (along with every other text widget). If I go back to the dashboard, click on widgets, there are no longer any active text widgets. I have to drag them back to the sidebar and start all over.

Not sure how else to explain- short of showing you while replicating the problem?

    Thanks.

  270. The Forge says:            August 3, 2010 at 11:14 am

@Joe – So let me understand, if you use invalid code in a widget and then come back to widgets in the dashboard, all the widgets you chose are no longer chosen and you have to start again?

  271. Joe says:            August 3, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Correct . . . but just the other text widgets I am running. It doesn’t affect the calendar widget, blogroll, etc.

  272. The Forge says:            August 3, 2010 at 4:06 pm

Very odd @Joe, I would suggest using valid code. We’re releasing updates of our themes in the next few weeks and you’ll most probably want to download the update then..

@Jason – Thanks for the kind words, we appreciate and always do our best to nail as many bugs as possible. It sounds like the italics class inside the style.css file has been removed or needs to be added. I did have a look at your website, however, I see no reference to i/italics/emphasis in your code, so I cannot test.

  273. Patrick says:            August 17, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Very nice template, thanks for providing it.

I have tweaked the files a bit here and there to my purposes, but I can’t seem to find where (or if) it’s possible to change the width of the main section and of the sidebar. I would like to widen the sidebar a bit, which would of course make the main section narrower.

Can you point me in the right direction, as to which file I could modify to do this? Thanks!

  274. Brendon says:            August 18, 2010 at 10:47 am

Hi Patrick, thanks for using our theme.

I wouldn’t advise trying to alter the main content and sidebar widths unless you are confident in your css skills.

The real problem is that the faded line gradient that separates the sidebar from the content area is a background image spanning the width of the site. Meaning, if that image isn’t adjusted perfectly to accommodate new widths, your site will look broken.

If you still want to give it a bash, I think the main ones to adjust are the #post div and #menu. Although there might be a few others. Just remember to adjust the image and save a copy of the theme before you tinker.

    Good luck!

  275. The Forge says:            August 18, 2010 at 1:53 pm

Thanks a million for covering this one Brendon, really appreciate it!

I hope you come right @Patrick

  276. Patrick says:            August 18, 2010 at 2:13 pm

Brendon, Thanks – and yes, I believe I can tweak the CSS, I’ve removed the “posted by ___ on ___” from the Pages, and a few other minor changes to the css, but in the case of the sidebar width, I just can’t FIND it, lol. I was hoping more for something like “change the ____” in the “____.php” file, but I do appreciate your response, and I’ll go look for the #post-div and #menu to see what I can do.

And thanks, also, I do understand about the background graphic. I can live with that. : )

    A-hunting I will go… Thanks again!

  277. The Forge says:            August 18, 2010 at 5:20 pm

@Patrick – You will find #post and #menu in the .css file, each one will have a width attribute and you could play with those. Unfortunately, because these themes are free, we do not offer precise explanations for custom requirements purely because we cannot justify the time, I’m sure you can appreciate that. I wish you the best of luck, please do let us know once you’ve solved it.

    Hi there,

I recently downloaded your Organic Theme 1.9.4 from Wordpress.

I am trying to create a menu at the top of the page, and while I am successfully able to create menu pages such as “About Us”, “Contact Us” etc, I cannot seem to create a menu item called “Home” that simply navigates users back to the home page. Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks.

  279. The Forge says:            August 25, 2010 at 11:53 pm

    Hi Vicki,

We actually didn’t build in functionality to make one of the links linkable to the home page, simply because at the top, the blog name next to the logo is a link back to the home page, which we felt was sufficient. You would need to alter the header.php file to include a link back to the home page.

  280. Vicki says:            August 26, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Thanks for this information. Can you explain how one might alter the header.php in order for a “Home” page tab to appear? Unfortunately I don’t find clicking on the blog name to be very intuitive…..perhaps its just me. Thanks.

  281. The Forge says:            August 27, 2010 at 9:53 am

Hi Vicki, unfortunately due to the nature of this theme being free, we do not offer technical support at this point, any Wordpress developer should be able to assist you though..

  283. The Forge says:            August 28, 2010 at 11:38 am

@Draffi – You can do this by making changes to the footer.php file, however, this means that if we upgrade the theme, and you upgrade, you’ll write over those changes and need to do them again.
