Virtual Card Services
Virtual Card Services (VCS) was established in 1996 and works with ABSA, Nedbank, Standard Bank and First National Bank. VCS has more than 50 years collective experience in developing and implementing credit, debit and smartcard processing systems for all of the major card issuers in South Africa.
In order for an online retailer to register with VCS, the retailer must register with their bank as a Credit Card Merchant. Once registered, the retailer will receive a Merchant Number and can use this to register for VCS services.
VCS does not charge a set-up or transaction fee during the test phase of a client’s set up and the merchant receives monthly VCS tax invoice and statement via e-mail, once set up. A minimum monthly fee of R145 is charged, and a 50c authorization fee is levied per transaction. A settlement fee of 50c and an additional 0.5% of the transaction value are levied, with a maximum value of R4 per transaction. Volume discounts are given, in line with the monthly transaction volumes that a retailer handles. The entry level package levies a R250 setup and R250 monthly subscription fee, with a transaction fee of 0.65% of the transaction’s value.
