The Forge Web Creations was commissioned by LimeLight Websites to redevelop one of South Africa’s largest wedding directories onto a Content Management System (CMS?) to allow for easier management thereof. The website was built on top of Wordpress, simply for it’s many fantastic features.

Here are some of the important elements we incorporated into the redevelopment:

  • Mass emailer – Users on the website are able to email all service providers within a specific category. This means that if a user is uncertain of which service provider to use, they can simply email all the service providers by only completing one form.
  • Custom post queries – The system has the ability to allow users to view all service providers in a specific category and then refilter all the results against another category, but remain inside the initial category. This allows users to quickly and easily find what they are looking for without being shown irrelevant results.
  • Administrator notifications – The system notifies the administrator when various listings are going to expire, this is an automatic procedure and the administrator receives a CSV file with all the expiring listings.
  • Custom templates – Each category and article being displayed on the website has the ability to have a unique look and feel, this allows for a website that doesn’t look generic or repetitive.

Our desktop calendar wallpaper for July marks the winter solstice

We are really lucky here in Cape Town to get some pretty mild winters. Sure maybe not as balmy as Durban or Miami, but we still get some beautiful weather amongst the really cold and rainy days. The 21st of June marked our winter solstice, so the weather should start getting warmer as we begin sliding towards the summer months.

The DSLR camera was forgotten at home so this wallpaper shot was taken with the trusty iPhone 3GS camera.
